St. Martin Public Library Announces 2026 Summer Library Program: “Unearth A Story”

MARTIN, MS — The St. Martin Public Library is inviting children and families to embark on a summer filled with imagination, creativity, and discovery during the 2026 Summer Library Program, “Unearth A Story.”

Beginning Wednesday, June 10, 2026, elementary students can participate in exciting weekly programs every Wednesday at 10 a.m. featuring storytelling, cultural performances, art activities, and wildlife experiences designed to inspire a love of reading and learning all summer long.

This year’s theme, “Unearth A Story,” encourages readers of all ages to explore new ideas, uncover exciting adventures, and connect through stories while earning prizes through the summer reading program.

2026 Program Schedule

  • June 10 – White Tiger Lion Dance Team
  • June 17 – “A Story, A Song” Storytelling Program
  • June 24 – Walter Anderson Museum of Art presents “Create Your Own Explorer Map” inspired by Walter Anderson
  • July 1 – Freedom Ranch Wildlife Center

Registration for the Summer Library Program begins May 30, 2026.

The library will also host Preschool Programs every Thursday at 10 a.m., giving younger children opportunities for fun early literacy activities and interactive learning.

“All programs are free and open to the community,” library staff said. “We encourage families to spend the summer reading together, discovering new interests, and enjoying all the library has to offer.”

St. Martin Public Library Celebrates America’s 250th with Family Patriotic Rock Painting

MARTIN, Miss. — Families are invited to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary at the St. Martin Public Library during a special Family Patriotic Rock Painting program on Thursday, July 9, at 3:00 p.m.

The event will feature a presentation by Ms. Corinne of the Friendship Oak Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, who will share the story of the Declaration of Independence and how the signers came together to create one of the nation’s most important historical documents.

Following the presentation, families will have the opportunity to paint patriotic-themed rocks together as they commemorate this milestone anniversary in American history.

This family-friendly program is open to all ages. Children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

ST. MARTIN, Miss. — The St. Martin Public Library invites adults to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a creative afternoon of Patriotic Flag Painting on Thursday, July 16, at 3:00 p.m.

Participants will create a unique patriotic flag-themed artwork while enjoying a fun and relaxing painting experience. This special program offers an opportunity to commemorate the nation’s milestone anniversary through creativity and community engagement.

The workshop is designed for adults ages 18 and older. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

St. Martin Public Library Hosts Heron Painting Workshop for Adults

MARTIN, Miss. — The St. Martin Public Library invites adults to unleash their creativity during a Heron Painting Workshop on Tuesday, July 21, at 3:00 p.m.

Participants will create their own colorful heron masterpiece during this guided acrylic painting class inspired by the beauty of Mississippi’s coastal wildlife. Step-by-step instruction will help attendees capture the elegance of a heron using vibrant colors and expressive brushwork, making the program suitable for both beginners and experienced painters.

All supplies will be provided through the generous support of the Friends of the St. Martin Public Library. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

St. Martin Public Library Launches “The Creative Collective” for Teens

 
St. Martin, MS – Young artists are invited to connect, create, and collaborate at The Creative Collective, a new teen art program at St. Martin Public Library on 2nd Monday at 4:30 pm.
 
Designed for ages 12–17, this program offers a fun, safe space where teens can share artistic ideas, develop their talents, and explore creativity alongside peers. Participants are encouraged to bring their own projects, experiment with new techniques, and express themselves freely. All art styles and mediums are welcome—from drawing and painting to digital art and mixed media.
 
The Creative Collective aims to build community while nurturing self-expression and confidence through the arts.
