Ocean Springs Municipal Library Launches “Brew Crew” Teen Coffee & Gaming Hangout

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS — Teen gamers and coffee lovers are invited to connect, compete, and unwind at Brew Crew: Coffee & Gaming, hosted by the Ocean Springs Municipal Library on Tuesday, June 2 at 2:00 PM at PJ’s Coffee in Ocean Springs.

Designed for teens ages 12–18, this summer library program offers a relaxed social space where participants can meet new friends, discuss the latest trends in gaming, and enjoy playing games together in a fun café atmosphere.

Ocean Springs Municipal Library Presents “Day of Dragons at the Mary C.”

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS — Families are invited to enjoy a magical day of dragons, crafts, and film fun at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center on Saturday, June 6 during the Ocean Springs Municipal Library’s Day of Dragons at the Mary C. event.

The day begins at 10:00 AM with dragon-themed arts and crafts activities designed especially for children. At 11:00 AM, attendees can enjoy a special screening of the family favorite How to Train Your Dragon (2010).

Hosted at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center, located at 1600 Government Street, the event promises a “scaly good time” for all ages. The program is sponsored by Marco’s Pizza and the Friends of the Ocean Springs Municipal Library. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase during the event.

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS — Teens are invited to expand their taste buds and explore flavors from around the world at the Ocean Springs Municipal Library’s Teen Snack Lab on Tuesday, June 9 at 2:00 PM.

This interactive summer program gives teens the chance to sample and rate a variety of international snacks while learning about foods and cultures from other countries. Participants can expect a fun afternoon filled with adventurous flavors, conversation, and friendly reactions as they discover new favorites.

Ocean Springs Municipal Library Announces 2026 Summer Library Program: “Unearth A Story”

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS — The Ocean Springs Municipal Library is inviting children and families to embark on an exciting summer of reading, discovery, and adventure during the 2026 Summer Library Program, “Unearth A Story.”

Beginning Tuesday, June 9, 2026, elementary students can join the library every Tuesday at 10 a.m. for free weekly programs featuring storytelling, cultural performances, wildlife encounters, and hands-on educational experiences designed to inspire a lifelong love of reading.

This year’s “Unearth A Story” theme encourages children to dig into books, uncover new adventures, and explore creativity and learning throughout the summer while earning prizes along the way.

  • June 16 – “A Story, A Song” Storytelling Program
  • June 23 – Mississippi Museum of Natural Science featuring Conservation Educator Meaghan Huseman
  • June 30 – Freedom Ranch Wildlife Center

Registration for the Summer Library Program begins May 30, 2026.

The library will also offer Preschool Programs every Wednesday at 10 a.m., providing younger children with engaging literacy activities and early learning fun.

Ocean Springs Municipal Library Hosts “Grill & Chill Bingo” Community Event

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS — The Ocean Springs Municipal Library invites the community to enjoy food, fun, and friendly competition at this year’s Grill & Chill Bingo with Cakewalk on Saturday, June 13 at 12:00 PM.

This all-ages summer event will feature bingo games, a cakewalk, grilled lunch, prizes, and desserts in a welcoming community atmosphere. No registration is required, and attendees are encouraged to bring family and friends for an afternoon of entertainment and fellowship.

Lunch will be provided courtesy of event sponsors Humana and Sage Health, while desserts and additional support are generously provided by the Friends of the Ocean Springs Municipal Library.

Ocean Springs Municipal Library Partners with Walter Anderson Museum of Art for Teen Block Printing Workshop

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS — Teens are invited to explore the art of printmaking during a special Block Printing workshop hosted by the Ocean Springs Municipal Library in partnership with the Walter Anderson Museum of Art on Tuesday, June 16 at 2:00 PM.

Led by presenter James Karlson from the Walter Anderson Museum of Art, participants will learn the creative process behind designing and producing original block print artwork. Teens will also have the opportunity to watercolor their finished prints and take their artwork home.

This hands-on summer library program encourages creativity, artistic exploration, and self-expression while introducing participants to a classic artmaking technique.

Presented by Xander Thompson, this engaging teen program will explore the basics of building a YouTube channel, creating content, and understanding how creators can earn income online. Participants will also learn about common mistakes new creators make and how to avoid them.

Participants will learn how to create healthy, homemade treats for their pets while enjoying a relaxed, hands-on program as part of the 2026 Summer Library Program. Attendees will leave with their own “dinosaur bone” pet treats to take home for their furry companions.

Ocean Springs, MS – Young artists are invited to bring their imagination to life at the Ocean Springs Municipal Library’s new Kids Drawing Club, meeting every other Wednesday starting March 4th from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This creative club offers children a fun and welcoming space to explore drawing, experiment with color, and build artistic confidence. Whether they love doodling, sketching characters, or creating their own masterpieces, kids will have the chance to learn new techniques and share their creativity with friends.

Ocean Springs, MS —Ocean Springs Municipal Library invites the community to get creative at its new Junk Journaling Meetup, held on the second Saturday of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This monthly gathering encourages participants to turn everyday “junk” into meaningful art through collage, journaling, and upcycled scrapbooking. Whether attendees are experienced collage artists or completely new to junk journaling, the meetup offers a relaxed, supportive space to experiment, share techniques, and document life creatively.

Ocean Springs Municipal Library and Jackson County 4-H Launch Robotics & STEM Club

 

Ocean Springs, MS — Springs Municipal Library, in partnership with Jackson County 4-H, is excited to announce the launch of a Robotics & STEM Club for children and teens. The club will meet every other Tuesday, beginning March 3, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Municipal Library.

Participants will gain hands-on experience in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, with a special focus on robotics. The program is open to multiple age groups, including Cloverbuds (ages 5–7), Juniors (ages 8–13), and Seniors (ages 14–18). In addition to skill-building activities, the club may participate in competitions with other STEM and robotics clubs at the local, regional, or national level.

Ocean Springs Municipal Library Launches Monday Mystery Society

Ocean Springs, MS —The Ocean Springs Municipal Library is thrilled to announce the launch of the Monday Mystery Society, a new monthly gathering for mystery lovers, puzzle solvers, and armchair detectives.

Beginning Monday, December 15 from 6:00–8:00 p.m., the group will meet at The Traveler, located inside the Walter Anderson Museum of Art at 1007 Joseph Street in Ocean Springs.

Each month, participants will work together to unravel thrilling mysteries while enjoying a themed menu and drinks curated by The Traveler. The event is free and ticketed, with food and beverages available for purchase.

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS __You are invited to bring your children to the Ocean Springs Municipal Library on the last Saturday of the month to participate in our “Sit, Stay, Read!” program. This program, sponsored by Visiting Pet Teams of South Mississippi, allows children to read to licensed therapy dogs and is designed to boost confidence in early and young readers.
