MOSS POINT, MS — Ina Thompson Moss Point Library invites community members of all ages to rediscover the beauty of handwriting through its Modern Cursive program, held every Wednesday from June 3 through July 3 at 5:15 PM.

This welcoming program is designed for anyone who wants to improve their cursive handwriting skills or refresh techniques they may not have used in years. Participants will practice modern cursive styles in a relaxed and supportive environment suitable for all skill levels and abilities.

Whether attendees are learning cursive for the first time or simply looking to strengthen their handwriting, Modern Cursive offers a fun and creative opportunity to reconnect with this timeless skill.

Library Hosts Monthly Afternoon All-Ages Storytime and Book Talk

The library invites readers of all ages to gather for its Afternoon All-Ages Storytime and Book Talk, held one Thursday each month at 3:30 PM.

This welcoming program features a relaxed story time followed by an optional book discussion, where attendees can share what they’re reading, discover new titles, or simply enjoy listening and connecting with others.

Upcoming dates include April 2, May 7, June 4, and July 2. The program is designed to encourage a love of reading while building community through conversation and shared stories.

Groups are welcome; however, organizers ask that larger groups coordinate in advance for capacity planning.

Ina Thompson Moss Point Library Announces 2026 Summer Library Program: “Unearth A Story”

MOSS POINT, MS — The Ina Thompson Moss Point Library is inviting children and families to dig into discovery, imagination, and adventure this summer with the 2026 Summer Library Program, “Unearth A Story.”

Beginning Thursday, June 11, 2026, elementary students are encouraged to join the library each Thursday at 10 a.m. for exciting educational programs, storytelling experiences, wildlife encounters, and hands-on learning opportunities designed to keep young minds engaged all summer long.

This year’s theme celebrates curiosity, exploration, and the power of stories to uncover new worlds. Participants can enjoy a variety of free programs while earning prizes through summer reading.

2026 Program Schedule

  • June 11 – White Tiger Lion Dance Team
  • June 18 – “Story, A Song” Storytelling Program
  • June 25 – Mississippi Museum of Natural Science featuring Conservation Educator Meaghan Huseman
  • July 2 – Freedom Ranch Wildlife Center

In addition to elementary programming, the library will also offer Preschool Programs every Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Registration for the Summer Library Program begins May 30, 2026.

“All programs are completely free, and we encourage families throughout the community to participate,” said library staff. “Summer reading helps children maintain literacy skills, build confidence, and discover the joy of learning.”

Ina Thompson Moss Point Library Launches “How Was I Supposed to Know?” Teen Life Skills Series

MOSS POINT, MS — Ina Thompson Moss Point Library is helping teens tackle real-world challenges with its new summer series, How Was I Supposed to Know? — a fun and practical “Adulting 101” program designed to build confidence and life skills.

Held as part of the Unearth a Story Summer Reading Program, the series will guide teens through creative and practical topics ranging from financial basics to family history research.

Program Schedule:

✍️ June 11 — Modern Hieroglyphics
Teens will create and personalize their signature while learning about identity and self-expression.

💵 June 18 — Money Doesn’t Have to Be Scary
Participants will explore budgeting basics, spending wisely, and practical money tips for everyday life.

🌳 June 25 — Unearthing Your Roots
Learn how to trace family history, discover genealogy resources, and uncover family stories.

🎉 July 2 — Celebrate. Compete. Eat.
The series wraps up with games, activities, and celebration as participants put their new skills to use.

The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. and is designed for readers who enjoy exploring bold, engaging, and “spicy” titles in a relaxed, judgment-free environment.

Ina Thompson Moss Point Library invites the community to slow down and reconnect through Mindful Motion, a gentle movement program held on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

This self-guided session blends Chair Yoga and Tai Chi, combining calming movements and supportive stretches to promote relaxation, balance, and mindfulness. Participants will follow video instruction and printed guides, making the program accessible and easy to follow for all experience levels.

No prior experience is required attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and move at their own pace. This program is designed to offer a peaceful, welcoming space to breathe deeply and relax.

Mystery lovers are invited to put their detective skills to the test at The Tuesday Case File: Mystery & Mayhem, a new recurring program at the Ina Thompson Moss Point Library. Beginning this month, the program will be held on the last Tuesday of each month starting at 4:00 p.m.

Each session features a brand-new case filled with puzzles, plot twists, red herrings, and surprises as participants race against the clock to uncover the truth. No prior experience is required—participants may attend solo or form teams.
