Lucedale-George County Public Library Announces Temporary Postponement of Reduced Hours

Lucedale, MS –The Lucedale-George County Public Library, in conjunction with the Jackson-George Regional Library System (JGRLS) Board of Trustees, is dedicated to keeping our community informed about the future of the library and its services. The relationship between the library and the City of Lucedale is vital, as it directly impacts the community’s access to essential resources.

During the recent JGRLS Board of Trustees meeting, a significant decision was made to postpone the reduction of the library’s operating hours. This postponement will provide the City of Lucedale additional time to review and potentially amend its budget to secure the necessary funds to maintain the library’s full-time schedule. The JGRLS Board of Trustees will re-evaluate the situation at their September meeting.

As a result, the Lucedale-George County Public Library will continue its current full-time hours until at least September 30, 2024. We understand the importance of the library to the community and remain hopeful that a resolution will be reached to keep the library open full-time permanently.

While there remains a possibility that the library hours may need to be reduced to only Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday after September 30, 2024, we are exploring all options to avoid this outcome. We commit to keeping you informed of any developments as they occur.
