Gautier Public Library Hosts Fourth of July Recipe Swap and Potluck Gathering

GAUTIER, Miss. — Gautier Public Library invites community members to share their favorite holiday recipes during a Fourth of July Recipe Swap on Thursday, July 2, at 5:30 p.m.

Whether it’s a signature potato salad, a family barbecue favorite, a patriotic dessert, or a treasured side dish, participants are encouraged to bring a prepared dish along with copies of the recipe to exchange with fellow attendees.

The event offers a fun opportunity to celebrate Independence Day traditions, discover new recipes, and connect with neighbors while enjoying a variety of homemade dishes. Participants can compare cooking styles, swap culinary tips, and leave with a collection of recipes perfect for future gatherings.

The Fourth of July Recipe Swap is sponsored by the Friends of the Gautier Library and is open to the community.

GAUTIER, Miss. — Families are invited to celebrate a little holiday magic in the middle of summer during Christmas in July Storytime at Gautier Public Library on Thursday, July 9, at 10:00 a.m.

Children and their families will have the opportunity to listen as Santa shares festive stories during a special summer-themed storytime event. Combining the joy of Christmas with the fun of summertime, this unique program offers a memorable experience for young readers and holiday enthusiasts alike.

The event is designed to encourage early literacy while providing a fun and engaging opportunity for families to enjoy stories, laughter, and a special visit from Santa Claus.

Gautier Public Library Hosts Tie-Dye Canvas Bag Workshop for Back-to-School Season

GAUTIER, Miss. — Gautier Public Library invites community members to get creative and prepare for the upcoming school year during a Tie-Dye Canvas Bag Workshop on Wednesday, July 15, at 3:00 p.m.

Participants will have the opportunity to design and create their own colorful tie-dye canvas bag, perfect for carrying books, school supplies, or everyday essentials. The hands-on program encourages creativity while teaching a fun and timeless art technique.

Whether attending for practical back-to-school preparation or simply to enjoy an afternoon of crafting, participants will leave with a unique, personalized tote bag designed by their own hands.

Gautier Public Library Celebrates Shark Awareness Day with Live Shark Encounter

GAUTIER, Miss. — Gautier Public Library invites families and ocean enthusiasts to celebrate Shark Awareness Day with a special Live Shark Encounter on Saturday, July 18, featuring educators from the Mississippi Aquarium.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to learn about sharks, their role in marine ecosystems, and the importance of shark conservation while seeing a live shark up close. The educational program is designed to inspire curiosity about marine life and provide an engaging, hands-on learning experience for attendees of all ages.

Due to anticipated interest, two sessions will be offered at 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Gautier Library.

GAUTIER, Miss. — Gautier Public Library invites adults and teens interested in creative journaling, paper crafting, and mixed-media art to join its Junk Journaling Group, which meets on the first Saturday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the library’s meeting room.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Gautier Library, the ongoing program provides participants with an opportunity to explore the art of junk journaling—a creative hobby that transforms everyday materials such as paper scraps, book pages, photographs, ephemera, and keepsakes into personalized journals and memory books.

Gautier Public Library Launches “Silent Book Club at the Hammocks”

GAUTIER, MS — Gautier Public Library invites readers to relax and unwind this summer with Silent Book Club at the Hammocks, held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 5:00–6:00 PM during June and July.

This peaceful outdoor reading experience encourages participants to bring a favorite book, chair, or blanket and enjoy an hour of quiet reading near the library’s hammocks. Several hammocks will also be available for attendees to use while supplies last.

Designed for readers who enjoy the company of fellow book lovers without the pressure of assigned reading or discussion, Silent Book Club at the Hammocks offers a calm and welcoming atmosphere to simply relax and read outdoors. Participants are encouraged to bring bug spray and dress comfortably for the weather.

Gautier, MS — The Gautier Public Library invites community members to join the Friends of the Library Monthly Membership Meeting, held every third Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the library.

These meetings offer an opportunity to support and shape the future of the library through discussions on fundraising, marketing, and event planning. Members also provide valuable feedback and ideas for programs and services that benefit the entire community.

Annual membership is just $5 for individuals or $10 for families, with corporate sponsorships beginning at $25. New members are always welcome!
