Gautier Public Library Launches Monthly Junk Journaling Program

GAUTIER, MS — Gautier Public Library invites creative community members to explore the art of Junk Journaling during a new monthly program beginning Saturday, June 6 at 11:00 AM in the library’s Meeting Room.

Held on the first Saturday of every month, this creative gathering encourages participants to use recycled materials, paper scraps, vintage-inspired elements, and personal mementos to create unique and artistic journals. Whether participants are experienced crafters or trying junk journaling for the first time, the program offers a fun and welcoming environment for creativity and self-expression.

The program is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Gautier Library.

Gautier Public Library Invites Families to “Unearth a Story” This Summer

Gautier, MS — Gautier Public Library is excited to announce its 2026 Summer Library Program, “Unearth a Story,” a free series of engaging and educational events for children and families.

Registration opens May 30, with programs beginning June 10. Elementary-aged students are invited to attend weekly programs held Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m., while preschool programs will take place Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.

This year’s theme encourages young readers to dig into books, explore creativity, and discover new ideas through hands-on experiences and live presentations. Featured programs include:

• June 10: White Tiger Lion Dance Team
• June 17: “A Story, A Song” – Interactive Storytelling
• June 24: Walter Anderson Museum of Art – “Create Your Own Explorer Map” inspired activity
• July 1: Freedom Ranch Wildlife Center

All programs are free, and participants can read books and earn prizes throughout the summer.

Gautier Public Library to Host Teen Fossil Art Casting Workshop

GAUTIER, MS — Teens are invited to get creative and explore prehistoric-inspired art during the Fossil Art Casting Workshop at the Gautier Public Library.

The workshop will take place on Wednesday, June 24 at 4:00 p.m. and is designed especially for teens interested in hands-on art and crafting activities. Participants will learn how to create impression-style “fossils” using air-dry clay and paint to design their own unique prehistoric artwork.

Gautier Public Library Launches “Silent Book Club at the Hammocks”

GAUTIER, MS — Gautier Public Library invites readers to relax and unwind this summer with Silent Book Club at the Hammocks, held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 5:00–6:00 PM during June and July.

This peaceful outdoor reading experience encourages participants to bring a favorite book, chair, or blanket and enjoy an hour of quiet reading near the library’s hammocks. Several hammocks will also be available for attendees to use while supplies last.

Designed for readers who enjoy the company of fellow book lovers without the pressure of assigned reading or discussion, Silent Book Club at the Hammocks offers a calm and welcoming atmosphere to simply relax and read outdoors. Participants are encouraged to bring bug spray and dress comfortably for the weather.

Gautier, MS — The Gautier Public Library invites community members to join the Friends of the Library Monthly Membership Meeting, held every third Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the library.

These meetings offer an opportunity to support and shape the future of the library through discussions on fundraising, marketing, and event planning. Members also provide valuable feedback and ideas for programs and services that benefit the entire community.

Annual membership is just $5 for individuals or $10 for families, with corporate sponsorships beginning at $25. New members are always welcome!
