Gautier Public Library Brings Color to Summer with Free Children’s Programs

The Gautier Public Library invites families to join the fun during its 2025 Summer Library Program, Color Our World, beginning June 11! Each Wednesday at 2 p.m., elementary students can enjoy free, interactive events designed to inspire imagination, creativity, and a love of reading.

This year’s exciting lineup includes:

  • June 11Nature’s Color with Grand Bay NERR

  • June 18Colorful Stories with Micki Lofton & Bethany Carlisle

  • June 25Colorful Entertainment with juggler and comedian Wink Danenburg

  • July 2Color Our World with Music featuring Gram Rea

Preschoolers are invited to special storytime programs every Thursday at 10 a.m. All programs are free, and children can read books to earn prizes all summer long!

Gautier Library Launches Full Slate of Free Summer Fun for All Ages

The Kathleen McIlwain Public Library of Gautier is celebrating summer in full color with a dynamic lineup of free programs for all ages as part of the 2025 Color Our World Summer Library Program. From crafting and storytelling to trivia, poetry, and book club meetings, there’s something for everyone to enjoy throughout June!

Highlights include:
🎨 Teen Summer Crafternoons (Mondays at 4 p.m.) – from watercolor bookmarks to DIY fidget toys
📚 Storytime for Preschoolers (Thursdays at 10 a.m.)

Gautier Public Library Hosts Weekly Teen “Crafternoons” This Summer

GAUTIER, MS – Teens, it’s time to get creative this summer at the Gautier Public Library! Starting Monday, June 2, the library is hosting Teen Summer Crafternoon, a weekly hands-on craft session for ages 11–17, held every Monday from 4:00 to 5:00 PM.

Each week features a new and exciting project designed to inspire imagination and creativity. From personalized bookmarks to optical illusions and back-to-school DIYs, there’s something for every budding artist or curious crafter!

Teen Crafternoon Schedule:

  • June 2 – Watercolor Bookmarks
  • June 9 – Stamp Making
  • June 16 – DIY Fidget Toys
  • June 23 – Paper Weaving
  • June 30 – Yarn Painting
  • July 7 – Optical Illusions

No experience is necessary, and all supplies will be provided. Space is limited, so participants are encouraged to reserve their spot early by visiting or calling the library.

GAUTIER, MS – Travel back to the vibrant vibes of the 1970s with a colorful, hands-on experience! The Gautier Public Library invites adults to GLP|Create: DIY Lava Lamp Bottles on Saturday, June 14, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

In this fun and nostalgic workshop, participants will create their own lava lamp-inspired bottles using simple materials and eye-catching colors. It’s the perfect way to welcome summer and let your creativity shine!

GAUTIER, MS – Get ready for a night full of laughs, learning, and lively competition! The Gautier Public Library invites the community to Trivia Night at Antonio’s Pizzeria on Monday, June 17 at 5:30 PM.

This round of trivia will feature colorful questions—all based on color themes from pop culture, art, science, history, and more. Bring your friends, test your knowledge, and compete for fun prizes while enjoying the delicious atmosphere at Antonio’s!

Gautier Public Library Hosts Video Game Figure Painting Event

Gamers and artists unite! The Gautier Public Library invites teens and tweens to a creative and colorful event — Video Game Figure Painting — on Friday, June 21st, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Participants will get to paint some of their favorite video game characters, with all supplies provided. Whether you’re into Mario, Sonic, Pokémon, or something else entirely, come ready to express your creativity.

Gautier Public Library Invites Readers to Join Page Turners Book Club This June

GAUTIER, MS – The Gautier Public Library invites the community to join the next gathering of the Page Turners Book Club on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. This month’s featured read is Trojan Odyssey by the #1 New York Times bestselling author Clive Cussler—a thrilling Dirk Pitt novel full of adventure and mystery.

The Page Turners Book Club is a welcoming group of readers who gather each month to discuss the featured title and share thoughts on other books they’ve been reading. Whether you’ve finished the book or just want to meet fellow book lovers, all are welcome to attend.

Gautier Public Library Hosts Cherry Blossom Tree Painting Program on June 28

GAUTIER, MS – Add a splash of springtime to your Saturday at the Gautier Public Library! Join us on Saturday, June 28 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM for a fun and eco-friendly art program: Cherry Blossom Tree Painting.

Participants of all ages will learn how to create simple and beautiful cherry tree canvas art using recycled plastic and glass bottles. It’s a fresh, creative way to reuse common household items, and take home a piece of art you’ll be proud of.

All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own bottles if you’d like to personalize your piece even more!

No experience needed, just come ready to paint, play, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of artistic expression. This program is free and open to the public.

Earn, Save, Spend, Budget! Kids Can Learn About Personal Finance at the Kathleen McIlwain Public Library This February

GAUTIER, MS – This February, kids in Gautier can dive into the world of personal finance with engaging, hands-on programs and tools at the Kathleen McIlwain Public Library of Gautier. Through the Thinking Money for Kids initiative, children will explore topics like earning, saving, spending, sharing, and budgeting in a way that’s both fun and educational.

The library is honored to be one of only 300 libraries nationwide selected to receive a Thinking Money for Kids Program Kit from the American Library Association (ALA) and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation. This special kit is filled with resources designed to help children ages 3 to 12 learn essential financial skills both at the library and at home.

“We’re excited to bring financial literacy to life for kids in our community,” said Ann Rushing, branch manager. “February is the perfect time to visit the library, explore our new Playaway Launchpad tablets, and participate in fun in-library programs that make learning about money exciting.”

The Playaway Launchpad tablets, available for checkout starting February 1st, are kid-friendly, durable devices pre-loaded with financial education games such as Pet Cents, Making Mooo-lah, Currency Conga, and Penny Pinchers’ Party. These tablets don’t require an internet connection, making them great for learning at home or on the go.

Throughout February, the library will host interactive programs designed to teach financial concepts in a fun and accessible way for kids and families. Stay tuned for program details and don’t miss this chance to help your child build valuable life skills.
